Abstract
A 47-year-old woman was admitted to our hospital because of a abnormal duodenal shadow found by mass screening examination.
Hypotonic duodenogram showed a pedunculated lesion 3.5cm in size in the second portion of the duodenum. Endoscopic biopsy specimen suggested tubular adenoma. We resected the tumor by open laparotomy because we dislike piecemeal polypectomy. Histological analysis of the specimen confirmed tubular adenoma with no malignancy.
Due to the recent increase of duodenal polyp, re-examination of past cases has been necessary to determine whether endoscopic or surgical treatments are more effective in these cases.
