Abstract

We experienced a case of sarcoid beneath the scar of breast biopsy.<br> A 35-year-old woman seen at the hospital because of a right breast tumor in December 1991. Palpation of the right breast revealed a tumor of 1.5cm in diameter which was located at the same site as the scar was formed from breast biopsy when she was 20 years old. Palpation, ultrasonography, and thermography suggested breast cancer, and breast biopsy was done. Histological examination revealed many epithelioid cell granulomas, and sarcoid was suspected. Moreover, the same histological findings were obtained from the nodule on the scar of left fingers arising in August 1991. Serum angiotensine converting enzyme (ACE) level elevated to 34.7u/ml. Tuberculosis, foreign body granuloma, and fungal infection were discriminated, and the diagnosis of sarcoid was made by clinical, histological, and biochemical findings.
