抄録

A 57-year-old female noticed redness and swelling on the left cheek, and also noticed the same findings on the left breast. Skin biopsy of the left cheek and left breast was performed, and a diagnosis of skin metastasis of signet ring cell carcinoma was made. The left breast revealed redness and hardness, and lymph nodes were palpable at the left axilla. Radiological studies suggested an inflammatory breast cancer of the left breast. No malignant tumors were not encountered radiologically in the gastrointestinal tract and genital organs. Simple mastectomy was performed. Though chemotherapy was added, she died 3 months after the operation. Pathological examination revealed a focus of mucinous carcinoma sized 1.0cm × 0.3 cm, and wide-spreaded invasion of signet ring cells in the subcutaneous vessels. Our case was unique that the skin metastasis had the same pathologic findings as inflammatory breast cancer. We present a signet ring cell carcinoma which is rare in Japan with a review of the literature.
