<jats:title>Abstract</jats:title> <jats:p>The Raman band of the C=O stretching vibration of benzaldehyde has been recorded as a function of the concentration in a number of solvents. The experimental results suggest that dispersion forces are responsible for the observed frequency shift. The variation in the band-shape parameters have been interpreted using microviscosity theory.</jats:p>
