抄録

The case of emphysema in the retropharyngeal and cervicomediastinal regions is reported. A nineteen year old male patient complained of neck pain and dyspnea, immediately after a sudden impact from his hand to the cervical region while sleeping in a moving car. A plain X-ray and CT scan revealed intermediastinal air, which suggested the possibility of tracheal trauma in the membranous wall. He was treated with rest and antibiotics, and recovered within several days. We believe that sudden and soft pressure can cause a mediastinal emphysema.
