抄録

Diode laser irradiation with indocyanine green (ICG) solution injection into the hemorrhoidal tissue was evaluated for the treatment of hemorrhoids. The injected ICG solution absorbs diode laser beam effectively and coagulates the submucosal hemorrhoidal tissue selectively. The ICG dyed layer also prevents direct laser beam from penetrating into the muscularis propriae and protects it from being damaged. This ICG dye enhanced diode laser photosclerotherapy has been reported to be useful as a simple, safe and effective preventive treatment for bleeding from esophageal varices. I have applied this therapy to the hemorrhoids as an alternative treatment. A postoperative survey reveals that 92.9% (79/85 patients) of those who underwent this therapy are satisfied with their postoperative conditions. It is concluded that ICG dye enhanced diode laser therapy would be useful for the treatment of hemorrhoids.
