抄録

We report a rare case of metastatic malignant melanoma to the small intestine causing intussusception.<br>An 89-year-old man undergone a resection of malignant melanoma of the back in 1999 was seen at the hospital because of right lower abdominal pain in June 2001.<br>Abdominal ultrasonography and CT scan revealed an intussusception in the right lower quadrant of abdomen. Radiography of the small intestine visualized intussusception caused by a tumor of the small intestine. He underwent a laparoscopy-assisted operation on July 18. At operation, intussusception could not be found but ten tumors were present in the ileum, and a partial resection of the small intestine by about 90cm in length including the tumors was performed. Macroscopic examination of the resected specimen revealed ten brown nodular tumors. The tumors stained positively for HMB-45 monoclonal antibody and metastasis of malignant melanoma to the ileum was diagnosed. Eight months after the operation, he died of another disease.
