抄録

Molecular distortion of a photoexcited diplatinum(II) complex in a single crystal has been directly observed by accurate synchrotron radiation diffraction studies. Photoexcited crystallographic analysis has revealed that a small portion of [Pt<SUB>2</SUB>(pop)<SUB>4</SUB>]<SUP>4−</SUP> (pop = H<SUB>2</SUB>O<SUB>5</SUB>P<SUB>2</SUB><SUP>2−</SUP>) complex shows the Pt–Pt bond shrinkage of 0.23 Å under blue laser irradiation.
