抄録

A 54-year-old man was referred to our hospital for fecal blood. Colonoscopic examination showed dark purple colored, edematous and hyperemic nodular mucosa from the cecum to descending colon. Marked reddish, edematous mucosa and spastic narrowing were found in the sigmoid colon. Abdominal x-ray films and abdominal CT revealed linear calcification along the right hemi colon. Histopathological examination of the specimens showed perivascular deposition of collagen fibers at submucosal layer. He was diagnosed as having phlebosclerotic colitis from these findings. Phlebosclerosis of the mesenteric vein is a rare cause of chronic colistis, and only 25 cases including the present one have been reported, all from Japan. We reviewed these 25 cases, with some bibliographical comments.
