The clinical records of 79 cases with ameloblastoma treated at our clinic from 1976 to 1996 were reviewed to evaluate our treatment results. Two main patterns were pathologically found : follicular type (27 cases) and plexiform type (26 cases) . Of the 79 cases, 56 cases underwent conservative therapy and 23 cases underwent radical therapy such as partial maxillecomy or mandiblectomy. Recurrent disease occured in 9 cases (11%) . There was revealed tendency of increased recurrence in cases with multilocular destruction of bone in X-ray findings or acanthomatous pattern in pathological findings Histologic pattern at recurrence differed from that of the primary tumor in 4 out of 9 sases with recurrent disease.
