Abstract
The nursing students at St.Mary's Junior College are assigned practical training for acute disease in its affiliated general hospital. The purpose of the maternal studies program is to understand pregnant women and their families so that the students will develop the ability to care for them. However, the students at this college come into contact only with mothers who have babies in the NICU. Therefore, they are unable to establish relations with women experiencing a normal pregnancy. It is feared that the nursing students will thus be unable to understand the goals of the maternal nursing practical training program. In the outpatient ward, the students learn the distinctions between the obstetrics and gynecological sections. For this research, I studied and analyzed the reports of 97 students after the outpatient ward training. As a result, the students said that they enjoyed the training and reaffirmed the need for maternal outpatient ward training. Students'responses included : "I was unpressed when I touched the pregnant women's abdomens" and "It is important to undergo the practical training with correct knowledge and technology. "Students also learned about the topics of "communication with outpatients, "relations with outpatients families," "the important distinction between the outpatient ward and general ward, "in addition to other themes that some students discovered on their own.
