抄録

The vortex ring with background rotation is investigated experimentally. The vortex ring is emitted from a piston-driving nozzle, of which the piston speed and the piston stroke are varied. The translational velocity of the vortex ring is obtained by image-based measurement and mapped as functions of Re number and the dimensionless stroke. The measurement data shows a significant descend trend of the translational velocity due to the rotation in low Re and low stroke conditions.
