抄録

An all-optical regeneration using transverse mode switching in a long-wavelength vertical-cavity surface-emitting laser is presented. Transverse mode switching induced by injection locking gives a negative steplike transfer function with an on–off ratio of 20 dB. All-optical regeneration with a receiver-sensitivity improvement of 1.2 dB is demonstrated at 1 Gbps.
