Abstract

A 55-year-old man complaining of low back pain was referred to the hospital because abdominal ultrasonography showed an abdominal aortic aneurysm at another hospital. Contrast enhanced CT scan of the abdomen showed an infrarenal abdominal aortic aneurysm with the maximum diameter of 74mm. There was no extravascular leakage of blood as well as mantle sign, but destruction of the anterior portion of the 3rd lumber vertebrae was seen. Emergency operation was performed because his low back pain was serious. Although no findings suggestive of rupture of the aneurysm or inflammatory abdominal aortic aneurysm were shown, an incision of the aneurysm disclosed an egg-sized defect in the wall where was identical with the destructive vertebrae. At surgery the aneurysmal segment was replaced with a Y-shaped artificial vessel. After the operation his low back pain disappeared and he was discharged from the hospital on the 17th hospital day.
