We evaluated squint angle change for infantile esotropia in 97 patients with prismatic therapy to determine the predictive factors which may affect the squint angle decrease. Change of squint angle ranged from 78 prism diopters (PD) decrease to 20PD increase (average 22.8±20.2PD decrease). Overall, change of squint angle were 47 patients (48.5%) with a decrease of 20PD or more, 23 (23.7%) with a decrease between 10PD and 19PD, 26 (26.8%) with a change within 9PD and one (1.0%) with a increase of 10PD or more. Change of the squint angle in initial deviation of 40PD or more were larger than that in initial deviation of less than 40PD (26.3±20.6PD and 11.5±14.0PD, respectively (p<0.001)). There was significant positive correlation between initial deviation and squint angle decrease (r=0.363, p<0.001). We have seen no significant defferences with refractive error, presence of dissociated vertical deviation and initial age of prismatic therapy.
