抄録

Outreach development support programs for children with special needs have become popular primarily among public daycare centers in the last decade. However, such support programs are not necessarily available to all child education/care facilities. Some results of a preliminary investigation were introduced in this paper to show that such programs are not yet available to most of the private kindergartens. It is hoped that development support programs will become available in kindergartens. Also, professionals who are in charge of such programs have to be aware of the rapid changes occurring in the systems and goals of early childhood education/care in Japan in order to provide necessary support for children with special needs, and establish development support networks in their communities.
