Abstract

Novel A2+B3 type charge-transporting hyperbranched (HB) polymers having 2,5-diphenyl-1,3,4-oxadiazole units in the interiors and carbazole rings at the terminals were prepared and their photoluminescent (PL) and electrochemical properties were examined. The structures of the HB polymers were confirmed from FT-IR and 1H NMR spectroscopy. The HB polymers with high molecular weights, high degrees of branching (DB) (98%<), amorphous properties, and good solubilities in organic solvents were obtained at feed molar ratios of A2/B3>3/2. The UV-vis and PL spectra of the HB polymers in chloroform solution and in solid displayed absorption and emission maxima in the bluish violet region. Cyclic voltammetry (CV) indicated that the HB polymers show reversible peaks only in the reduction cycle. The luminescence quamtum yields of the HB polymers tend to be higher with polymers obtaind at feed molar ratios of A2/B3≤1.
