Metal-free phthalocyanine (C32H18N8) film was sandwiched by ZnS–SiO2 layers, and it was prepared on read-only-memory disc substrate. Super-resolution effect was observed when the readout laser power was 4.4 mW at a disc rotation speed of 6 m/s, and carrier-to-noise ratio of about 40 dB was obtained at 200-nm mark that was 75% size of the resolution limit (laser wavelength = 635 nm, numerical aperture = 0.60). The super-resolution readout was achieved at higher than a threshold laser power (at around 3.0 mW with 6 m/s), and the power shifted as a function of disc rotation speed suggesting that the readout depends on temperature, which is similar to super-resolution near-field structure disc using platinum-oxide recording layer.
