The self-assembled nanostructure of an amphiphilic peptide-poly(ethylene glycol)(PEG) diblock copolymer at the air/water interface was investigated. A polypeptide segment wtih alternating hydrophobic and hydrophilic amino acid residues (RFDF16) was designed to form a β-sheet structure. The surface pressure-area (π-A) isotherm of RFDF16-PEG suggested that the conformation at the air/water interface changed from a flattened one to a brush one due to the dissolution of PEG segments into water subphase. Langmuir-Blodgett (LB) films of RFDF16-PEG at several surface pressures showed grains and fibrils depending on the surface pressure. The AFM image showed grains at the low surface pressure. The observed aggregates became elongated and nano-striped upon compression to a higher surface pressure. These differences were caused by the phase separation based on the composition of the diblock copolymer on the water surface.<br>
