抄録

We describe the use of bioabsorbable screws for the fixation of distraction devices. Distraction osteogenesis was applied to the mandible in a patient with severe mandibular deficiency. The devices were held in place with bioabsorbable screws, and distraction was done according to the presurgical plan. There were no complications intraoperatively or postoperatively. The distraction devices were removed by an intraoral approach, without using a screwdriver. This method decreases surgical time and eliminates the need for sedation or general anesthesia during device removal.
