We describe the techniques of 3D-CTA images using MDCT that we developed for the diagnosis of cerebrovascular disease.<BR>Cranio-cervical 3D-CTA: Using a helical scanner with a 64-detector, the scanning from the origin of the cervical vessels to the vertex of the head can be completed for 8-10 seconds, allowing us to perform the examination for the unconscious and pediatric patients.<BR>ECG-gated 3D-CTA: There is a big discrepancy between the findings of the ECG-gated 3D-CTA and the intraoperative findings of the aneurysm. For the present, the findings of the ECG-gated 3D-CTA should not be used for the making the decision whether the operation should be performed in the patients with unruptured cerebral aneurysms.<BR>The separate demonstration of arterial-phase and venous-phase on 3D-CT Angiograph: This technique will facilitate the understanding of the vascular anatomy within lesions, allowing improvement of diagnostic accuracy and potentially a safer surgical approach.<BR>Dynamic 3D-CT Angiography (d3D-CTA): Although our technique is still preliminary, this is the first technique which provides us with acquisition of the dynamic blood flow on 3D-CTA and cerebral perfusion and will become a valuable modality in the diagnosis and treatment for the patients with cerebrovascular diseases.
