Abstract
The patient was a 69-year-old female who was being given steroid-pulse treatment due to worsening of Behçet's disease. An emergency laparotomy was performed when a gastrointestinal treat perforation was recognized during the course. There was a perforation at the end of the terminal ileum, and ileocecal resection and drainage were done. The pathological diagnois was perforation of the terminal ileum due to cytomegalovirus (CMV) infection. She fell into pre-shock due to postoperatire intestinal bleedings, but it improved after medication with gamma globulin and gancyclobil. When a patient with collagen disease under treatment with steroid-pulse therapy develops intestinal perforation or bleeding, cytomegalovirus infection must be kept in mind as a probable cause.
