Abstract

We assessed the caregiver's burden in the family and examined the factors which increase the care burden. For the assessment of the care burden we used the Japanese Version of the Zarit Caregiver Burden Interview (J-ZBI) and compared it with the caregiver's age, relationship, care term and the number of usage items of care insurance service. Analyzing the total score of J-ZBI and subscales in J-ZBI, correlations between the total score and subscales, and between subscales were found (p<0.05). The factors which increase the care burden could be extracted from the subscales. Being incapable of leading a former life greatly influenced the increase of care burden.<br>
