Abstract

We evaluated characteristics of 109 A class river basins by social and economic indices and found those indices has typical difference between river basins. Moreover, in regression analysis, water quality (BOD) has strong relationships to population density, crime rate, unemployment rate and aging rate among social and economic indices. Otherwise, in principal component analysis, two principal components represented by social and economic indices have contribution rate of more than 0.5 in total, and show the urbanization and the health of river basins. Those indices and components are useful for the river management in future.
