Abstract

1, 400頭を飼養する肥育養豚場の5~6ヵ月齢肥育豚の約1%に後肢の運動障害を主徴とする疾病が発症した. 発症豚6頭の上皮小体ホルモン値は著明な高値であった. 剖検で全例に後肢の長骨の軟化および骨折がみられ, 病理組織学的検査では, 全身の骨に線維性骨異栄養症がみられ, 上皮小体は形態的に機能亢進状態を呈していた. 発症豚には残飯を主とする飼料が与えられていたが, 飼料中カルシウムは不足し, カルシウム対リン比は低かった. 本症は栄養性二次性上皮小体機能亢進症による線維性骨異栄養症と診断された.

A locomotive disturbance of the hind limbs appeared in 1% of 5-to 6-month-old pigs on a farm rearing 1, 400 young pigs. In six cases examined, parathyroid hormone levels were remarkably high. Fractures in the long bone of the hind limbs were grossly found and all the bones were slightly soft and pliable. Histologically, fibrous osteodystrophy and activated enlargement of parathyroid were seen in all the cases. The pigs had been fed mainly rice leftover, which was deficient in calcium and showed low ratio of calcium to phosphorus. The condition was diagnosed as fibrous osteodystrophy due to nutritional secondary hyperparathyroidism.
