Abstract

Two cases of feline otomycosis caused byAspergillusspp. were reported. The animals showed intense itching, accumulation of rustbrown or brown-black coloured cerumen and slight redness on the ear canal. A large amount of septate hyphae and a small amount of condidial heads of Aspergillus spp. were demonstrated in both KOH-mount and Gramstained preparations of the ear-swabs, and Aspergillus nidulansandA. terreuswere respectively isolated from these cases. By washing or cleaning with 0.1% phenyl mercuric acetate solution and topical administration of miconazole every 3 to 7 days, both cases were recovered in 1 or 2 months.
