タングステン合金の長期間迷入により形成された頬部線維性肉芽腫の1例 A case of a fibrous granuloma of the cheek caused by long-term exposure to a heavy-metal tungsten alloy
We describe a case of fibrous granuloma containing a heavy-metal tungsten alloy. The patient was a 58-year-old man who had a mass in his left cheek. The mass was hard and 2 cm in diameter, without tenderness. Radiography revealed a radiopaque shadow suggesting a metal object. Although the patient had sudden bleeding of his left cheek while using an electric sickle 3 years ago, he felt no pain and received no medical treatment.<BR>A black metal foreign body, 2 mm in diameter, was found in the center of the surgically removed tumor mass. No pigmentation surrounded the foreign body. The metal was tungsten-cobalt on X-ray analysis.
