We report two cases of surgical resection of Castleman disease arising in the abdomen with some bibliographical cotnments. The both patients were pointed out an abdominal mass lesion at a medical check up. They were not diagnosed precisely before operation and surgical resection for diagnosis and treatment was performed. Histopathological diagnosis was hyaline vascular type Castleman disease.<br> Patient 1, a 62-year-old woman, underwent laparoscopic resection of a tumor arising from the small intestinal mesentery. Patient 2, a 53-year-old woman, underwent laparotomy resection of a tumor arising from the lesser sac.<br> Castleman disease was first reported by Castleman and others in 1956 as a mediastinal lymphoproliferative disorder. It rarely occurs in the abdomen and, in our country, only six cases of lesser sac orgin have been reported. In our cases, their outcomes are considered good because the tumors were perfectly resected. But they must be followed carefully because association of lymphoma has been reported.
