Abstract
A liquid crystal display has the viewing angle characteristics that picture quality significantly changes with viewing angle. In the previous study, an evaluation method of overall picture quality was proposed for an LCD. In the present study, the effectiveness of the evaluation method of overall picture quality was examined for the observation angle vertically inclined, where the optical characteristics largely change with observation angle. As the results, it was confirmed that the accuracy of the estimation of picture quality was improved by introducing the correlation between gamma and minimum luminance into the estimation equations of picture quality. In addition, it was examined whether the changes of the evaluation factors cause different effects on each different evaluation picture or not. As the result, it was confirmed that there was the significant different for some evaluation pictures and there was not for the others.
