Abstract

We have suggested a microlens-array structured electrophoretic display which has possibilities to replace the existing reflective type of LCD in displaying and viewing. In this paper, we investigated the efficiency of treating the electrodes with fluorinated surface-improve agent in order to avoid unfavorable adhering contents of electrophoretic suspension. We also fabricated the prototype cell with microlens-array structured electrode. When voltage is applied to the prototype cell, we succeeded to observe the white and black states with a certain contrast.
