Abstract
Nowadays, among the quake-resistance technologies of building construction, a design method, which makes the structure skeleton absorb earthquake energy by the deformation of the skeleton, predominates. However, by this method the skeleton will be damaged when a severe earthquake will occur. On the other hand, recently, another quake-resistance technology, which uses a viscoelastic dumper to absorb earthquake energy efficiently and prevent damage to the skeleton, attracts attention. Here, the present review provides an overview of the quake-resistance technologies, especially the technologies utilized by our company.
