Abstract

Recent developments of synthetic procedures for cyclic macromolecules as well as design of ring-based unusual polymer architectures are reviewed. New reactions such as olefin-metathesis and 1, 3-dipolar cycloeddition have been applied for synthesis of cyclic polymers as a key ring-closing reaction. Electrostatic selt-assembly and covalent fixation strategy as well as ring- expansion polymerizations are also useful. Design and construction of a variety of ring-branch and multicyclic polymer topologies on the basis of such newly developed synthetic procedures are also described.
