青色光を対象として，LEDと蛍光灯のもとでキクの伸長成長量がどのような影響を受けるのかを調べ，これらの光源を同等と扱ってよいかどうかを検討した．<BR>その結果，LED区では一日あたりの伸長成長量が15.2 mmであるのに対してLEDでは8.8 mmであり，両者間には有意な差(<I>p</I>＜0.01)が認められた．この原因を探るため，545 nmの緑色LEDを用いて青色蛍光灯のスペクトルとよく似たスペクトルの光環境を創り，その光質のもとでキクを栽培した場合と青色LEDのみで栽培した場合とで伸長成長量を比較したところ，545 nmの緑色光を付加した実験区では青色LED単独よりも伸長成長量が抑制され，高度に有意な差が認められた．これらのことより，青色蛍光灯および青色LEDの環境下で行なった実験結果は同等zではないことが明らかとなった．
The effects of blue fluorescent lamp and blue LED (light emitting diode) on stem elonga- tion in <I>Chrysanthemum morifolium</I> Ramat.'Reagan' were studied to determine whether these light sources could be treated as equivalent.<BR>Cuttings of <I>Chrysanthemum</I> were grown in a growth chamber maintained at 20°C under photosynthetic photon flux (PPF) of 150μCmol s<sup>-1</sup>m<sup>-2</sup> on the canopy level with a 14h photoperiod and 4h night interruption. After three weeks,rooted cuttings were moved to another growth chamber at 5°C for one month, and then they were transplanted to φ9cm plastic pots and grown for another week under the same conditions at 20°C.<BR>Growth chamber experiments were conducted to investigate the influence of blue fluorescent lamp and blue LED on stem elongation of <I>Chrysanthemum</I>. Other environmental conditions were PPF of 80μCmol s<sup>-1</sup>m<sup>-2</sup> with a 24h photo period and temperature of 20°C. Daily stem elongation was 15.2 mm under blue LED and 8.8 mm under blue fluorescent lamp. There was a significant difference between the two values. The major peak wave length of blue fluorescent lamp was 436 nm with a second peak at 546 nm. The second experiment was conducted to examine effect of 546 nm. A spectrum similar to that of blue fluorescent lamp was created using blue LED and another LED of 545 nm. Daily stem elongation under blue +545 nm green LED was 6.9 mm and 11 mm under blue LED. There was also a significant difference between these two values. It was shown that the experimental results obtained under blue fluorescent lamp and blue LED are not equivalent.
