Abstract

We experienced a case of colorectal cancer with morphological changes within 27 days. A 64-year-old female who underwent endoscopic examination due to bloody excrement was found to have a 20mm IIa+IIc type lesion on the rectum (Ra). The pit pattern was VI and highly irregular and so was judged as sm massive, and the patient was referred to our department. On the second endoscopic examination a week later, the appearance had altered to a Is type lesion, and 27 days after the first examination a laparoscopic low anterior resection was performed. The size had transformed to 8mm and the morphology to IIa+IIc type.
Various studies on the growth and development of colorectal cancer are being made to reveal their natural history. In this case we assumed that the protruding spot of the lesion had come off and the root remained, causing the change in size and morphology. We report on this interesting case which may be useful for defining the growth and development of colorectal cancer.
