Abstract

[Purpose] In this study, we investigated whether prosthesis improves proprioception or not in patients with knee osteoarthritis (OA). We inspected knee proprioception among people with knee OA and age matched controls, and also examined knee proprioception in knee OA patients with or without prosthesis. [Subjects] Twenty knee OA patients and 20 controls participated in this study. [Methods] We measured knee proprioception with modified continuous passive motion. [Results] Knee OA patients had worse proprioception than controls. Prosthesis improved knee proprioception in knee OA patients. [Conclusion] From the point of view of proprioception, prosthesis was beneficial for knee OA patients.<br>
