Abstract
The disilenyllithium, (t-Bu2MeSi)2Si=Si(SiMet-Bu2)Li (2a), reacted with B-chloropinacolborane (pin)BCl, or B-chlorocatecholborane (cat)BCl in toluene to produce the corresponding boryl-substituted disilenes 3a and 3b, which were isolated as air-sensitive yellow crystals. X-ray crystallographic analysis of 3b showed a nearly planar geometry around the Si=Si bond lacking π-conjugation between the Si=Si bond and a vacant p orbital of boron.
