Therapy combining in treating maxillary sinus cancer, surgery, chemotherapy, and radiation is a primary modality. While chemotherapy administered through the superficial temporal artery is conventionally used, we have worked since 2003 to assess the efficacy of combined therapy after superselective arterial docetaxel (taxotere) infusion for treating maxillary sinus cancer. Treatment consisted of preoperative radiation of 40Gy. The regimen, used to date in 3 men and 2 women, all with advanced maxillary sinus cancer, included planned surgery about two weeks after radiation therapy. Based on T classification, 1997 UICC three were in stage T3 and two in stage T4.<br>Malignancies were three squamous cell carcinomas, one small cell carcinoma and undifferentiated carcinoma. As this therapy, the effectiveness was proved for histopatholory. At present, all five subjects have survived, indicating that combined superselective arterial docetaxel (taxotere) therapy is very effective against maxillary sinus cancer.
