Abstract
This paper focuses on Townscape Heritage Initiative, which is one of the most influential conservation led regeneration scheme in terms of finance and eligible project. THI has been funded by heritage lottery Fund raised through National Lottery and been applied in more than 200 conservation areas all over UK since 1998. HLF makes grants to each local common fund, which is normally organized by public private partnership project team including a local authority up to 2 million pounds within 5 years in order not only to conserve the integrity of historical environment and townscape but also to accomplish sustainable economical and social development. Therefore a variety projects such as development on the gap site and bringing vacant historic floor space back into use can also be carried out in THI scheme.
