Atmospheric aerosols were collected at Poker Flat, Alaska in winter of 1991/1992. Lidar measurements simultaneously made at Poker Flat suggested that Pinatubo volcanic aerosols had diffused over Alaska by December 1991. Chemical constituents were analyzed with ion chromatography for the water soluble fraction of aerosols These concentration changed in the range of n×100pmol/m^3 to n×10nmol/m^3 with two orders of magnitude. Chemical analysis of aerosols showed the possibility that volcanic matter was transported to near the ground surface through stratosphere-troposphere exchange processes.
