To reduce pollutant emission and fuel consumption of automotive engines is one of the major concerns to be solved urgently, and several alternative propulsion systems such as hybrid systems, electric motors and fuel cells are being developed. As one of the options in the future systems, we have been developing since 1991 a solar car which is clean and ecological. In this study the performance of the rolling resistance of tires developed for the car was analyzed using data obtained in the 1998 world solar car rally. The result showed that the rolling resistance coefficient of new tire is lower that the former ones and that the running power of the car depends on the skill of the driver.
