達成動機研究の流れを概観し、健康教育対象者や看護者自身の動機づけにおいて、達成動機の考え方を導入することの可能性や課題を検討した。1.達成動機研究は、達成動機づけを決定しているものが動機そのもの、期待と価値、目標のいずれであるかによって3つの立場に分かれた。2.達成動機とは、「その文化や社会、あるいは自分自身が価値あると見なしている物事を成し遂げようとする意欲」であると考えられる。競争的・自己充実的な2側面をもち、それらは保健行動や看護者の動機づけに対して、別個の作用をすると考えられる。3.達成動機は、健康教育において学習者への適切な支援方法を予測・評価するための、学習者の特性把握に使用しうると考える。4.看護の各現象の中で達成動機とその下位概念の分析、類似概念との比較を行い、その概念を用いた研究を積み重ねるとともに、適切な測定用具が提案されることが求められる。

This study surveyed an outline of the research on the achievement motive and its application to nursing. Possibility and issue regarding the use of the achievement motivation concept for health educatee and nurses were examined. 1. The achievement motivation research include three standpoint that determine motivation : motivation itself, expectancy and value, and goal. 2. The achievement motive is "will to accomplish things considered to be of value by culture, society and oneself". The 'Self-fulfilment achievement motive' and 'competitive achievement motive' have different function to health behavior and nurse's motivation. 3. The achievement motive can be used to understand individual character in order to predict and evaluate appropriate care strategy for learners in health education. 4. The achievement motive is an important concept in the nursing field. From now on, this low-order concept and achievement motivation will be analyzed and compared with similar concept. Moreover, research must be accumulated using this concept in various nursing phenomena, and more appropriate measures must be proposed for tools.
