Abstract

It is known well that method of least squares is very important as a treatment method of errors occured in survey, physical measurement, etc. Many remarks on Gaussian error curve, which is the base of least squares, have been done by many mathematician, for example, Peason, Laplace etc since the eighteenth century but Gauss's method is known widely above all. The main purpose of this paper is to introduce Gauss's and Hagen's methods, etc and also to consider 'several theorems of probability' to be used in the process of calculations.
