During the course of our studies on physiologically active substances in citrus fruit peels, twenty-one flavonoid glycosides were isolated from the peels of iyokan, young unshiu and kinkan, and their structures were established by MS, ^1H-NMR and ^<13>C-NMR spectroscopy, and chemical evidences. Each of the components was intravenously injected in SHR-SP (0.3-1mg/100g of body weight), and many of the compounds were found to lower blood pressure of the rat. In especial, the hypotensive effect of 6,8-di-C-glucosyl apigenin was shown very strongly. Inter estingly, we found some compounds in the peels of several kinds of citrus fruits, in the presence of adenosine, to exhibit strongest hypotensive effect. Among these compounds, five flavonoid glycosides are hitherto unreported compounds.
