Abstract
M-strain of stroke-prone spontaneously hypertensive rats (M-SHRSP) show severe hypertensive fundus changes such as generalized narrowing, caliber irregularity of retinal arterioles, tortuosity or others. These hypertensive fundus changes were classified into four grades from 0 to +3 based on the severity of generalized narrowing and caliber irregularity of retinal arterioles. We studied the relationship between these hypertensive changes and the leakage of fluorescein dye. Fluorescein leakage was observed in more than half of the rats with arteriolar changes in caliber irregularity of more than grade +2.
