<dc:description>A part of results obtained in a course of an experimental investigation in acoustic emission detected from the cement mortar specimens under the repeated uniaxial compression loads are presented in this paper. The measurements of acoustic emission were carried out using the cylindrical specimens with 10cm in diameter and 20cm in height. To elucidate the relationships between the failure process of the specimen and acoustic emission, the amplitude, frequency and power spectra of the acoustic emission were investigated. From the experimental results, it was found that the spectral characteristics of the propagating ultrasonic pulse under the condition of frequency dependent attenuation were not only a decrease in amplitude, but also a shift of mean frequency toward the lower end of the spectrum, and the peak values of the power spectra of acoustic emission shifted to the high frequency part as the compression load increased.</dc:description>
