Abstract
Change in serum drug concentrations was examined to serum contained 27 drugs in four kinds of blood collection tube for serum separation. There was no change in serum drug concentrations for all of the test drugs in polystylene spitz (Toyokizai Co.) and clot activator tube without serum separator (CAT, Becton Dickinson Co.). On the other hand, there were significant concentration decrease (0.5ml serum, 5% decrease at 48hr) for 10 drugs, carbamazepine, carbamazepine-10, 11-epoxide, primidone, phenylethylmalonamide, phenobarbital, phenytoin, lidocaine, quinidine, cyclosporine and pentobarbital, in Vacutainer^<[○!R]> SST (SST, Becton Dickinson Co.) and 8 drugs except primidone and phenylethylmalonamide in Benoject^<[○!R]> tube (Terumo Co.) containing serum separator. The degree of the reduction in serum drug concentration in the SST was larger than that in the Benoject^<[○!R]>. The degree of the reduction in serum phenytoin and lidocaine concentrations stored at 2-8℃ was smaller than that stored at room temperature in the SST. From these results, it is found that the effect of serum separator on the serum drug concentrations varies with temperature.
