Abstract

LC converted MARC21 to XML database, which is called MARCXML. MARCXML is positioned as a bus of various data form for mutual conversion such as Dublin Core. The XML structure of MARCXML is the standardized XML structure for the bibliographic data which LC presents. In this paper, the experiment which converts Japanese MARC to XML database by the XML structure of MARCXML was performed as Japanese bibliographic data-processing technology. Consequently, using the XML structure of MARCXML, it was proved that the data of MARC21, JAPAN/MARC and TRC MARC could be browsed by the same operating environment. Moreover, like JAPAN/MARC and TRC MARC, when the tag and the sub field code were unified, and converted with the same XML structure, it was proved that those data could be intermingled.
