Abstract
The purpose of this paper is to analyze the career of Dietwomen as power elite. Three indices of career are adopted : education, job, and marriage. The main findings of the analysis are as follows: 1) The academic career of Dietwomen is longer than the average of women as a whole. Though the academic career level of highly educated Dietwomen does not reach that of Dietmen, the difference has been reduced. 2) Many of the Dietwomen had been teachers, presspersons, or authors before election. Such distribution is not found among Dietmen for the most part, who had been "civil servants", "small and medium enterprise managers", and "large enterprise managers". 3) The ratio of women who were married at the time of election is 75%. Most of the husbands of the Dietwomen born before 1925 were Dietmen. These results lead to the following findings. Dietwomen have joined the main route of the Dietmen as to academic career. But differences still exist with regard to job careers. It is supposed that these facts are caused by the people's belief that the political elite should be male, not female.
