A New Absorption Band in Uranium Doped and Undoped BaF<SUB>2</SUB> Irradiated Reactor Neutrons

抄録

A new absorption band in uranium doped and undoped BaF₂ after reactor irradiation at 20 K has been observed at 778 nm. From the studies of the optical conversion by 632.8 nm light from He–Ne laser and the polarization measurements, it is proposed that the 778 nm band can be attributed to the F₂ centers in BaF₂.
