The slow motion of a small sphere in an incompressible viscous fluid outside of a circular cylinder is studied on the basis of Stokes equations of motion. The force on the sphere translating in any direction has been calculated upto the first order effect of the boundary. An interesting result is that the wall correction factor k satisfies the inequality kθ<kz<kr, where the suffices r, θ and z denote respectively the direction of motion in cylindrical coordinates with the central axis of the cylinder as the z axis. For large radial distances r0 from the axis, they are found to be proportional to 1⁄(r0 log r0).
